Veterinarian (2 Years Contract)

· Perform safe and effective physical, chemical and behavioural restraint on patients.

· Diagnose medical conditions using a wide range of diagnostic modalities available, including clinical pathology (haematology, biochemistry, endocrinology, immunology), diagnostic imaging (radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography), microbiology, cytology and more.

· Formulate treatment or management plans for individual and herd/flock health.

· Perform basic soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries.

· Perform invasive and non-invasive endoscopic procedures.

· Practice evidence-based medicine that is pragmatic for the animals.

· Perform basic laboratory tests.

· Present cases and communicate opinions effectively at various forums.

· Manage operational emergency situations.

· Manage animal emergency and critical care scenarios, including the formulation of practical and effective intensive care for patients.

· Perform gross necropsies, sample collection for histopathology, biobanking and ancillary tests, data analysis and report writing

· Carry out routine histopathology processing and reading.

· Assist with clinical pathology analysis.

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment in necropsy facilities

· Prepare and maintain required records with accuracy and professionalism.

· Support the veterinary team in overall laboratory diagnosis of disease and participate in daily case rounds and case discussions


Job Requirements:


· Internationally recognised degree in Veterinary Medicine.

· Singapore Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) licensed veterinarian, or eligible for license application.

· Minimally 5 years in general zoo/wildlife practice.

· Intermediate level of competencies in the management, technical and scientific aspects of zoo animals and wildlife medicine.

· Class 3 driving license.

· Good analytical skills.

· Ability to work in a veterinary team and with non-clinical departments in a zoological institute.

· Open mind to consider and adopt a team-based approach to clinical practice.

· Able to work in a multi-cultural and diverse environment.

· Excellent verbal and written English.

· Ability to work weekends, holidays and after-hours assignments.
