Veterinary Assistant, Emergency | $20–$24/hour + Overnight Shift Differential | Full-Time Benefits | Three 12-Hour Shifts | Riverhead, NY
East End Veterinary Center (EEVC) is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team in Riverhead, NY.

Compensation
  • $20–$24/hour, based on experience and skillset
  • Overnight Shift Differential (11:00 pm–7:00 am): Base pay + $3.00/hour
Schedule
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week

Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with emergency patient care, diagnostics, and treatments.
  • Safely restrain and handle patients during examinations and medical procedures.
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for examinations, surgery, and emergency procedures.
  • Perform laboratory sample collection and assist with diagnostic testing.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in condition to the medical team.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation.
  • Clean, organize, and stock treatment areas to ensure a safe and efficient hospital environment.
  • Provide compassionate client support while delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Collaborate with the emergency team to provide seamless, high-quality veterinary care in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant is preferred; motivated candidates eager to learn are encouraged to apply.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced emergency veterinary hospital.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Positive attitude with a compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused approach.
  • Ability to safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of varying sizes.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
