SHSO-Administrative Payroll

Position Overview:

The Vice President, Direct‑to‑Employer (DTE) Business is a senior enterprise leader responsible for defining, launching, and scaling Sutter Health’s DTE portfolio, positioning the organization as a preferred strategic partner for employers, consultants, brokers, and coalitions. This role drives the end‑to‑end DTE strategy, aligning market growth with system priorities across population health, value‑based care, and consumer access. The VP is accountable for achieving sustainable revenue growth, strengthening employer relationships and retention, ensuring product‑market fit, and delivering measurable value across total cost of care, quality outcomes, access, and patient experience.

This leader oversees the identification and prioritization of key employer segments, including national, jumbo, regional, public sector, and labor, and the development of differentiated, employer‑ready solutions such as bundled offerings, direct contracting and risk‑based models, access‑focused pathways, and innovative care delivery models (e.g., virtual‑first, concierge, and on‑site services). In close partnership with clinical operations, service line leaders, and the medical group, the VP ensures solutions are clinically differentiated, operationally scalable, and financially viable, with competitive pricing and clear value propositions.

The role maintains executive‑level relationships with employers and key market intermediaries, leading complex negotiations, contract structures, and performance guarantees while representing Sutter Health as a thought leader in employer health transformation. With full P&L accountability, the VP drives disciplined execution of business plans, collaborates with operational teams to ensure readiness and service excellence, and establishes performance metrics tied to employer outcomes, including utilization, quality, access, experience, and productivity.

Additionally, the VP leads the development of a compelling employer value story grounded in transparent, credible, and auditable data, spanning cost savings, clinical outcomes, and experience measures. The position requires building and leading a high‑performing, cross‑functional team while serving as a critical connector across clinical operations, value‑based care, health plan, digital, and access functions to ensure seamless delivery and sustained growth of the DTE portfolio.
