Vice President, Mainframe Engineer

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Mainframe Engineer to join our Global custody - ECS – Positions & Settlements team. This role is located in PUNE

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise mainframe systems supporting critical financial services operations. Experience in driving modernization initiatives while ensuring system reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance.
• Design and implement mainframe solutions using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and MQ Series
• Lead capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization of batch/online processing
• Establish and enforce coding standards, best practices, and technical documentation
• Ensure 24/7 availability of mission-critical systems
• Manage incident response, root cause analysis, and problem resolution
• Oversee disaster recovery planning and testing
• Optimize MIPS utilization and infrastructure costs
• Ensure adherence to SOX, regulatory, and security requirements
• Manage vendor relationships (IBM, third-party software providers)
• Conduct code reviews and security assessments
• Mentor and develop mainframe engineering talent
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and cross-functional teams
• Provide technical guidance to project managers and senior leadership
• Drive mainframe DevOps adoption (CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, source control)
• Lead API enablement and service modernization initiatives
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies (zCX, Machine Learning for z/OS)

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

• 12+ years mainframe development/engineering experience
• Expert knowledge of z/OS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM
• Experience with mainframe version control/DevOps tools (Endevor, Jenkins, Git)
• Strong understanding of financial services (payments, securities, custody)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with mainframe modernization (API enablement, cloud integration)
• Knowledge of MQ Series, VSAM, REXX, Assembler
• Financial industry certifications
• Leadership/management experience
