Vice Principal (Academic)

Role Overview

The Vice Principal provides strategic and operational academic leadership to support the Principal in driving academic excellence, student achievement, faculty performance, and overall school development. This role oversees day-to-day academic operations, student management, teacher development, and institutional compliance, ensuring the school consistently delivers strong O Level, A Level, and university progression outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Leadership & Operations

  • Support the Principal in implementing the school’s academic vision and strategic goals
  • Oversee daily academic operations to ensure smooth and effective programme delivery
  • Monitor O Level and A Level academic performance and implement improvement strategies
  • Ensure curriculum planning and academic delivery align with international education standards
  • Maintain high standards of teaching quality, examination readiness, and student achievement
  • Analyse academic data and prepare performance reports for management review
  • Promote a culture of academic excellence, discipline, and continuous improvement

2. Faculty Management & Development

  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of qualified teaching staff
  • Support teacher appraisal, lesson observations, and performance management processes
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and professional development guidance to teachers
  • Ensure consistent classroom management and high teaching standards across departments
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive academic culture among staff

3. Student Affairs & Pastoral Care

  • Oversee student discipline, attendance, welfare, and behavioural management
  • Support the development and implementation of student support systems, especially for international students
  • Handle student and parent issues professionally and effectively
  • Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements relating to student management
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

4. Parent & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain professional and effective communication with parents and guardians
  • Manage academic consultations, parent meetings, and feedback handling
  • Support school events, academic briefings, and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Build strong relationships with parents, agents, and external partners

5. School Development & Growth

  • Collaborate with Admissions and Marketing teams to support student recruitment initiatives
  • Participate in school promotional events, education fairs, and academic presentations
  • Support branding initiatives that strengthen the school’s academic reputation
  • Contribute to school improvement plans, operational development, and programme expansion initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in academic leadership, school management, or senior teaching roles
  • Strong understanding of O Level, A Level, or international curricula
  • Experience managing international students is essential
  • Prior experience in an international school or private education institution highly preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage academic operations and lead teams effectively
  • Results-oriented with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
