The role of Volunteer Coordinator plays a critical leadership role in developing, managing, and enhancing our volunteering programme at our residential site in Caulfield. This position ensures that volunteer service aligns with HammondCare’s mission and strategic priorities while recruiting, onboarding and supporting volunteers.
This is permanent position 3 days per week based on site at Caulfield.

Key Responsibilities include
Volunteer Management & Oversight
Oversee recruitment, training, and ongoing support of volunteers
Implement volunteer engagement strategies to improve retention and satisfaction
Facilitate professional development and mentoring opportunities for volunteers
Provide expert advice to local teams on volunteer engagement and best practices
Develop and evaluate volunteer service workforce plans to enhance service delivery and impact
Ensure volunteers receive appropriate supervision and feedback to maintain service standards
Coordinate biannual volunteer events such as National Volunteers Week and Christmas
Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to expand volunteer services
Work closely with managers, pastoral care teams, and healthcare professionals to integrate volunteer support
Represent HammondCare in sector networks, forums, and community engagement initiatives
Communicate with patients/residents/clients to identify their needs for volunteer engagement
Operational Excellence & Service Delivery
Oversee data management systems to track volunteer participation and impact
Monitor and evaluate service effectiveness, making recommendations for improvements
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance volunteer contributions to residents, patients, client care
About You
Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
Experience in volunteer coordination or program management in healthcare, aged care, or community services
Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate and develop a team and effectively work with other staff
High-level administrative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and Database Management
Strong conflict resolution skills
Passion for working in aged care or health desirable
Empathic and compassionate
Strong knowledge of volunteer management principles, compliance, and risk management - preferred
Experience in delivering training to volunteers - preferred
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support a diverse team of volunteers - preferred
