VP, Technical Accounting
You will serve as the enterprise-wide authority on US GAAP and SEC accounting matters. You will advise finance leadership on complex, judgmental, and emerging accounting issues related to HPC and AI operations, prepare and review technical accounting memoranda, develop and govern accounting policy, support audit and SOX compliance, and provide accounting guidance for strategic transactions and disclosures.
Responsibilities
- Serve as executive subject-matter expert on US GAAP and SEC accounting matters
- Act as primary technical advisor to EVP Finance & Accounting on complex accounting issues
- Provide strategic interpretation and application of accounting guidance for non-routine transactions
- Oversee preparation and review of technical accounting memoranda documenting conclusions and judgments
- Advise on accounting implications of major infrastructure investments and capital allocation decisions
- Lead accounting analysis for high-value compute and infrastructure arrangements
- Evaluate capitalization versus expense of development, deployment, and optimization costs
- Determine revenue recognition for non-standard, usage-based, or hybrid commercial models
- Perform impairment and recoverability assessments for long-lived assets
- Develop and maintain the US GAAP accounting policy framework and roadmap
- Establish governance processes for policy development, documentation, and updates
- Lead development of position papers on areas requiring significant professional judgment
- Provide executive-level accounting guidance on strategic partnerships, long-term commitments, and M&A
- Advise on accounting for equity-based compensation and incentive structures
- Provide technical oversight of financial statement footnotes and accounting policy disclosures
- Serve as senior technical accounting contact for external auditors
- Support SOX compliance related to technical accounting areas
- Monitor FASB and SEC developments and advise on enterprise-wide implications
Requirements
- CPA designation (required)
- 15–20+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting, accounting policy, or professional practice
- Big Four experience (required) with exposure to public company technical accounting matters
- Expert-level knowledge of US GAAP and strong familiarity with SEC reporting considerations
- Demonstrated leadership in drafting and reviewing technical accounting memoranda and policy documentation
- Meaningful experience supporting technology-driven, capital-intensive, or AI/HPC-focused businesses
- Experience advising executive leadership and participating in senior-level discussions
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
