Ward Clerk
Join St John of God Midland Private Hospital, set to open in August, as a Ward Clerk and play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of our clinical areas. In this position, you will provide high-quality clerical and reception services at ward level, ensuring accurate maintenance of patient records and efficient administrative support for the healthcare team.

The Position
Maintains awareness of and works in accordance with SJGHC policies and procedures.
Provides a reception service for the ward/unit, presenting a courteous professional approach to patients, visitors, doctors and other staff.
Maintains a high standard of communication at all times, using appropriate tone and style.
Liaises with nursing and medical staff. Processes enquiries, arranges appointments with other Departments or external organisations as required.
Orientates new and relief clerks to the clerical requirements of the ward.
Provides a clerical service to the department including the maintenance of departmental statistics, registers and filing systems.
Maintains patient movements in the computerised Patient Information System as these occur.
Maintains manual daily statement of Patient Admissions and Discharges, providing daily statistics to medical record department.
Liaise with Bed Management regarding the availability of beds.
Attends to all word processing requirements of the department.
Requisition of stationery supplies.
Other duties as required within the skills and competency of the position.
Maintains accurate and complete patient records as per Medical Record Guidelines and department procedures.
Undertakes daily filing of Pathology results. Ensures security and confidentiality of patient records.
Attends relevant training sessions offered by SJGHC. Recognises the necessity to continually develop skills and acquire additional knowledge appropriate to the position.
Actively seeks opportunities for further professional development. Achieves mandatory annual hospital competencies and assumes responsibility for record maintenance.
The successful candidates will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focus, ensuring a professional and compassionate approach when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff. You will have the ability to effectively multitask, prioritise, and coordinate workflow in a busy environment, while maintaining a high level of accuracy in data entry.
Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite is essential, along with previous experience using patient management systems. You will be confident in liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders, including the public, patients, and staff at all levels, and show a clear commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.

About the new Midland Private Hospital
A brand-new purpose-built state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction, located just 300 metres from the St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Campus.
A comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, with interventional cardiology being offered for the first time in the region
The hospital will feature:
96 overnight inpatient beds, including a six-bed critical care/high dependency unit.
33-bed/chair short stay and day procedure unit
Eight operating theatres.
A cardiac/vascular catheter laboratory
We can offer you
Salary: $68,939 - $74,417 per annum, plus 12% superannuation
Casual Rate: $43.47 - $46.92 per hour, plus 12% superannuation
Permanent part time and full time positions available
