ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Wellness Navigator provides individual and group-based wellness services, including essential health literacy instruction, facilitation of wellness groups and individual in-home coaching. The primary goal of this position is to assist refugees and other eligible immigrants to achieve holistic wellness in their new community, including physical and mental health, community connection and family well-being. The Wellness Navigator (Swahili) must be a native speaker of Swahili.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct outreach and enrollment for both the Refugee Health Promotion program and the Services to Older Refugees program.
  • Conduct individual client need assessments to identify areas of health navigation and health education that are needed.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and implement individual service plans.
  • Provide individual health coaching on a variety of topics, including, but not limited to, preventative care, navigating the health system and utilizing a pharmacy.
  • Accompany clients to health appointments to provide in person coaching to help them learn to navigate doctors’ appointments independently.
  • Execute evidence-based peer support curriculums in individual and group settings.
  • Facilitate community gatherings to reduce isolation and increase connections within the community.
  • Participate in the organization and execution of wellness and/or community events.
  • Provide referrals to community partners, according to needs identified in individual service plans.
  • Translate notices and flyers related to public health, both from external sources and those developed by WRD.
  • Serve as culture broker to the WRD team, providing cultural insight to inform and shape client services.
  • Provide transportation to clients to enable participation in group services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
  • Valid drivers license, access to reliable vehicle and ability to pass MVR standards
  • Native fluency in Swahili, with preference for candidates fluent in two languages spoken by WRD’s client population
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Strong administrative and computer skills
  • Excellent time management abilities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with MS Office products, including Sharepoint.
  • High levels of comfort with technology
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Advanced cross-cultural fluency, with ability to collaborate effectively with team members of other cultural, linguistic or religious backgrounds
  • Flexible schedule for occasional work during early mornings, evenings (1-2 times/month) or weekends (1-2 times/year)
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fluency in more than one client language
