Wireless Power Magnetics Architect

This is an opportunity to participate in a multifaceted and outstanding engineering group at one of the world’s leading companies. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on highly technical topics related to some of Apple’s latest products in power technology. In particular, the role includes participation in the design, simulation, testing and analysis of current and future wireless power products. The role requires broad knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) modeling (using commercial tools) of the magnetic field. The candidate should have basic knowledge of the physics of magnetic materials, Maxwell’s equations, and finite element analysis. This is a unique opportunity in designing inductive power links with mass production intent. Candidates with a creative attitude and who are eager to undertake new challenges will find this role especially fulfilling. Minimum Qualifications Background in electromagnetics and a sound facility with Maxwell’s equations Experience with COMSOL and/or Maxwell FEA simulation tools Familiarity in creating multi-physics models to help predict electrical performance as it relates to wireless charging Minimum requirement of a bachelors degree Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with common lab equipment and measurement techniques including network analyzers, LCR meter, power supply/amplifiers, oscilloscopes, etc. Experience in creating mathematical, computational, and numerical models for reduced order and more complex thermal analysis Familiarity with statistical analysis of design perturbations Experience with transformer theory and modeling Understanding of physics of magnetic materials Working knowledge in heat transfer M.S. + 3 yrs experience or Ph.D. (preferred) in material science or power electronics (ECE) program, or related area (e.g. engineering physics)
