An exciting opportunity is available for a Workday Finance Specialist to join Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.
About the Position
Workday is WEHI’s enterprise system for finance, procurement and people management.
The Workday Finance Specialist supports the Finance and Procurement teams across the Workday Finance and Adaptive Planning tool suite including Core Finance, Expenses, Budgets, Financial Accounting, Projects and Project Billing, Customer Accounts and Contracts, Business Assets, Banking and Settlement, Procurement and Accounts Payable, and Adaptive Planning.
Working collaboratively alongside peer specialists including a Workday People & Culture Specialist, a Workday Integrations Specialist, and and an external Workday implementation and support partner who provides additional support, diagnostic and remediation services, the Workday Finance Specialist will report to the Senior ERP Program Manager and engage directly with Finance and Procurement business areas and other WEHI stakeholders.
Selection Criteria
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience (minimum 3+ years) in finance, systems accounting, procurement, or a similar field
Intermediate Workday Financial application knowledge (ie. understanding/updating system configurations, relationships with business processes, technical application, report creation/generation)
Intermediate Workday Adaptive Planning application knowledge (ie. understanding/updating system configurations, relationships with business processes, technical application)
Demonstrated experience supporting or implementing enterprise finance systems
Level 1 & 2 support experience, including root cause identification/resolution of system issues within defined timelines.
Experience using ticket management systems (ie. Fresh Service, JIRA Service Management)
Intermediate level testing skills (ie. building test plans, executing tests on updates/changes to Workday Financial/ Adaptive Planning and providing feedback to third party developers)
Provision of expert advice regarding Workday Financial/Adaptive Planning system capability and solution design.
Working knowledge of finance processes (eg., general ledger, projects, expenses, budgeting and forecasting) and their integration with related systems such as HCM and Payroll
Strong capability in business process analysis with the ability to deliver practical solutions
Intermediate documentation capability (ie. creating/maintaining process maps, user guides, training materials)
Experience using knowledge management tools (ie. wiki's, Confluence)
Personal Qualities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with functional and technical users
Well-developed organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
Effective stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to build trusted relationships, understand user needs, and manage expectations
Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering practical, solutions-focused outcomes
Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
Terms of Appointment
This position is fixed term until December 2027 in a full time capacity. Salary is Professional Services Employee Level 7 ($108,119 - $117,039). Very attractive salary packaging options are available for general living expenses, meal entertainment, novated leasing and more. 12% superannuation payable, plus up to a further 5% after the first 6 months of service via our matching superannuation scheme.
