Overview
Under the direction of the Membership Director and School Age Program Director, the youth programs generalist is responsible for the daily operations and leadership of YMCA family and school-age programming at their assigned site. This position oversees licensed school-age programs, family engagement initiatives, Child Watch operations, and family-centered events.
The Generalist ensures programs operate safely and effectively in compliance with YMCA policies and Colorado Department of Health and Human Services regulations. This role supports strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners while creating a welcoming environment that promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Director manages staff supervision, program quality, enrollment tracking, family engagement, and site-level administrative responsibilities while contributing to the overall mission and impact of the YMCA.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement high-quality school-age and family programming at the assigned site.
- Ensure compliance with CDHS licensing regulations, YMCA policies, and safety standards.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise site staff.
- Provide ongoing coaching, support, and performance feedback to staff.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for youth and families.
- Build strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners.
- Plan and coordinate family engagement events and programs.
- Provide operational oversight and support for Child Watch programming.
- Maintain program records including attendance, staff documentation, and participant files.
- Monitor site budgets and purchase program supplies as needed.
- Track program participation and family engagement outcomes.
- Implement YMCA emergency procedures and safety practices.
- Maintain confidentiality of participants and program information.
- Support YMCA fundraising initiatives including the Annual Campaign.
- Collaborate with YMCA departments to enhance family and member engagement.

Qualifications
- Minimum age of 21.
- Director qualified according to CDHS regulations.
- CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certifications.
- Experience working with children, families, and youth programming.
- Experience supervising staff preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse populations.
- Clear MVR and ability to drive YMCA mini-buses when required.
