OVERVIEW: The Youth Tutor provides tutoring and homework help for students who are current or former foster youth. The Youth Tutor will provide evidence-based lessons to students in group settings in school or other community-based locations that best meet the needs of the community.

DUTIES:

  • Conduct individual tutoring sessions to assigned clients, either individually or in a group, using fidelity to the evidence-based curriculum and agency policies.
  • Utilize creative and engaging teaching modalities to increase participation and retention of youth in program.
  • Provide basic classroom behavioral management techniques as needed.
  • Follow monitoring of participants in sessions and, if necessary, follow up with youth, families, and other County or community appointed persons to support continued participation.
  • Provide baseline assessment and post-assessment of each youth as required and enter the data into the data monitoring system.
  • Provide rewards/incentives for ongoing participation and graduation from the program.
  • Encourage family participation in sessions to support skill building at home and in other settings.
  • Provide services in the school and in various community sites.
  • Collaborate with school personnel and ensure compliance with district policies.
  • Staff all critical incidents with a supervisor in a timely manner to ensure safety in compliance with agency policies.
  • Follow up with mental health referrals as needed.
  • Participate in scheduled supervision to review participant progress.
  • Attend required agency trainings, meetings, and events.
  • Coordinate services with school sites and community partners as required.
  • Participate in outreach presentations as scheduled.
  • Follow up with referrals to community-based resources.
  • (10%) Paperwork and Other Duties
  • Write and maintain accurate case files, including but not limited to correspondence, screenings, check lists, referrals, etc.
  • Conduct outcome measurement and document baseline and post assessments.
  • Prepare Critical Incident and Suspected Child Abuse reports as necessary.

LOCATION: 2750 Sutterville Rd. Sacramento, CA 95820

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, averages 10 hours per week, mandatory staff meeting 3rd Wednesday of every month (3:30-5:30 pm)

SALARY: $20.02 - $22.52 per hour, to start
