Administrative Officer

This position serves as the Chief of Administration/Business Manager for the organization assigned. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 06/29/2026 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.

The major duties of the Administrative Officer (AO) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Serve as the lead for the Pueblo Parks Shared Services that supports Bandelier National Monument and Valles Caldera National Preserve in administrative, human resources, and information technology functions. Serve on the leadership team of both Bandelier and Valles Caldera to help plan, analyze, and monitor the formulation and development of complex and/or highly sensitive park-wide plans, programs, procedures, operating policies, and internal controls. Supervise a budget analyst, information technology specialist, administrative operations specialist (HR), and administrative assistant (property and general admin); and indirectly oversee four additional support staff. Work closely with the regional Servicing Human Resources Office (SHRO) and Major Acquisition Buying Office. Foster teamwork and good relationships between programs and among the administrative staff that supports both parks.

U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males. Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service); with few exceptions as outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal civilian employees applying for reinstatement who have had a break in service of less than one year, as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointments. Time-in-grade does not apply to new excepted service appointments. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. You will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 on an annual basis. Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. *Additional Requirements located under qualifications*
