Application Support Analyst (Shift Required)

The Mission

We are looking for an Application Support Analyst, to join our 24/7 banking operations team. In this role, you will keep our critical financial applications stable, fast, and reliable. Working in a 3-team shift rotation, you will monitor live systems, troubleshoot application errors, and fix batch processing issues before they impact our banking operations.

Your Shift Playbook

🔍 Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Monitor Live Systems: Use Splunk to track application health, analyze logs, and spot system errors early.
  • Fix Batch Issues: Troubleshoot and resolve complex batch processing failures to meet strict banking deadlines (SLAs/SLIs).
  • Find Root Causes: Investigate system failures deeply to find out why they happened and stop them from happening again.

🛠️ Technical Tasks & Automation

  • Write Scripts & Queries: Use Unix shell scripting and SQL to automate daily checks and analyze application data.
  • Support Big Data Backends: Troubleshoot data workflows running on Teradata or Hadoop platforms.
  • Manage Workflows: Use job scheduling tools to monitor and manage automated application tasks.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Proactively fix minor system flaws to prevent major application downtime.

📢 Communication & Readiness

  • Update Stakeholders: Respond quickly to queries from banking business units and provide clear, simple updates during tech issues.
  • Disaster Recovery: Participate in regular business continuity and backup drills to keep systems disaster-proof.

Your Skill Tree

  • Experience: Background in Application Support, preferably within a bank or financial institution.
  • Monitoring Tools: Hands-on experience using Splunk for log analysis and monitoring.
  • Core Tech: Strong skills in Unix scripting and writing SQL queries.
  • Data Platforms: Familiarity with Teradata or Hadoop environments.
  • Soft Skills: Calm under pressure, analytical, and a clear communicator.
