Assistant Engineer - Electrical

WSP GCC HK Advisory is seeking an Engineer (Electrical) to be part of Electrical &ICT team that supports WSP HK Advisory business in delivering designs, from concept stage to detailed design, for major multi-disciplinary projects. The individual will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting projects including sewage water treatment plants, Buildings, infrastructure, Highways, rail, Metro rail, Mainline railway.

The role will be responsible for all aspects of technical delivery in the relevant discipline, including the production of electrical MEP services designs predominantly for MEP services, working individually or as part of a team and with multi-disciplinary coordination. Experience of electrical design during and including Concept to detailed design stages for the HK Advisory is highly desirable.

• Prepare electrical designs, layouts, and schematics for projects

• Perform load calculations, cable sizing, and equipment selection

• Develop single-line diagrams (SLD), wiring diagrams, and panel layouts

• Design power distribution systems, lighting systems, and earthing systems

• Conduct short-circuit analysis, voltage drop, and protection coordination studies

• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (IEC, NEC, BS, IEEE, etc.)

• Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and project teams for integrated design

• Review vendor drawings and technical submittals

• Support project execution, installation, and commissioning activities

• Prepare technical documentation, BOQs, and specifications

• Have the ability to engage with clients, contractors and design team members in technical discussions, co-ordination and debates.

• Promote technical excellence in all our projects.

• Develop positive professional relationship with the HK WSP team/Client, communicating openly about project progress.

• Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies

Key Competencies / Skills / Qualifications

Mandatory skills

• Strong knowledge of electrical design principles and power systems

• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, AMTECH, EPLAN, Dialux, or MATLAB ,ELUM TOOL,

• Understanding of LV/MV/HV systems, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems

• Knowledge of electrical standards and safety regulations

• Analytical and problem-solving skills

• Good communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in sectors like buildings, infrastructure, power, or oil & gas

• Familiarity with BIM tools (Revit MEP) is an advantage

• Knowledge of energy efficiency and green building standards

• The candidate should be a graduate electrical engineer with minimum 4+ years of relevant experience

• Experience in design consultancy, EPC projects, or industrial projects is preferred
