BIM Technician - Land Development & Municipal Engineering

WSP is seeking a BIM Technician to join the Land Development and Municipal Engineering (LDME) team in Bengaluru. Reporting to the Principal BIM Technician, this role involves supporting the delivery of engineering design and drafting services using AutoCAD and Civil 3D across various project stages, from conceptual design to detailed construction documentation.

The position focuses on preparing lot grading plans for commercial and industrial developments, including stormwater management systems and municipal service design drawings such as storm, sewer, water, and drainage utilities, along with roadway and parking layout designs.

The BIM Technician will contribute to grading design, preparation of engineering drawings, and development of pipe network models for sanitary, storm, and water systems, while ensuring compliance with established CAD/BIM standards and quality requirements.

  • Prepare water main and piping layout drawings, including plan and profile drawings, in accordance with established CAD and BIM standards.

  • Develop drawings from conceptual sketches to detailed construction documentation using Autodesk Civil 3D (including pipe networks, profiles, alignments, assemblies, 3D feature lines, and grading tools).

  • Ensure drawings meet client drafting standards, project specifications, and quality requirements.

  • Collaborate with BIM/CAD Coordinators, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery.

  • Assist in coordinating and executing BIM/CAD activities across projects.

  • Support team members by following best practices and contributing to knowledge sharing.

  • Manage assigned tasks effectively and deliver outputs within project timelines.

  • Adapt to varying project standards, client requirements, and international codes as needed.

  • Support engineering design efforts for roads, parking, grading, storm and sanitary sewer systems, and water networks.

  • Perform basic QA/QC checks on drawings and models to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • Stay updated with industry practices, tools, and BIM standards to continuously improve technical skills.

  • Demonstrate basic working knowledge of Revit; exposure to MEP modeling is considered an advantage.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • · Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills in BIM and Civil 3D design.

  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to task execution.

  • Good communication skills to coordinate with engineers and team members.

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD for 2D drafting, plan & profile drawings, layouts, and standard drawing production.

  • Basic knowledge of Revit is desirable.

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

  • 3–6 years of experience in AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D design and drafting.

  • Ability to produce accurate drawings with attention to detail and adherence to standards.

  • Demonstrated capability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines.
