Border Patrol Agent (Intelligence)

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Laredo Sector, Target and Intelligence Division located in Laredo, TX. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement. This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally. Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland. This position starts at a salary of $95,548.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $124,215.00 (GS-12, Step 10). As a Border Patrol Agent (Intelligence), you will serve as a primary law enforcement officer (under 5 U.S.C. 8331 (6C) and 8412 (d)) and be responsible for performing intelligence-driven border security, interdiction, and enforcement operations. Typical duties will include: Collecting, refining, and analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence from multiple sources and disseminating reports to U.S. Border Patrol leadership and partner law enforcement agencies. Conducting international boundary, traffic, and transportation check operations to detect, interdict, and apprehend terrorists, transnational criminal organizations, smugglers, and individuals illegally entering or present in the United States. Utilizing, maintaining, and deploying remote-monitored sensors, surveillance systems, and other advanced technologies to detect and identify cross-border threats and support the National Border Patrol Strategy. Assessing immigration status and processing individuals in custody, including transporting subjects, preparing reports, affidavits, and case files, and supporting administrative and criminal prosecutions and removal actions. Participating as a full member of interagency task forces and serving as a liaison with Federal, state, local, tribal, and foreign partners to coordinate intelligence-driven investigations and operations.
