Chartering and Freight Manager

Our client is a Commodity Trading MNC with HQ in Japan, currently seeks a Chartering and Freight Manager to join their Maritime team.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the incumbent will be working in a team of 5 staffs. He / She will be responsible for managing vessel chartering activities, freight enquiries, and commercial execution of dry bulk freight contracts, while working closely with internal trading teams, freight operations, vessel owners, brokers, operators, and agents.

The main duties will include negotiating and finalizing shipping contracts for spot shipments and COAs, managing chartered vessels commercially, monitoring voyage execution and stowage plans, coordinating vessel onboarding and compliance procedures, and supporting post-fixture activities such as laytime and freight settlements, vessel nominations, and port enquiries. He / She will also provide market intelligence, freight updates, and shipping market insights to internal trading teams.

REQUIREMENTS

• Min a bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field
• At least 6 years of working experience in the dry bulk freight chartering (Handysize / Supramax / Ultramax), with operational exposure
• Strong knowledge of dry bulk shipping market, commercial shipping terms, and dry bulk commodities
• Established network with vessel owners, operators, and brokers will be advantageous
• Exposure to Atlantic trades and knowledge of IMOS or similar shipping systems will be an added advantage
• Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin are required to liaise with Mandarin-speaking clients and counterparties
