Chefs (Pastry / Savoury)
Responsibilities
• Operate and manage the daily pastry and gelato production with a disciplined team
• Assist with daily operational service wherever necessary
• Prepare a variety of sweet, savoury and frozen goods
• Finish and present all products in their best form
• Monitor inventory and order ingredients, supplies and caring for equipment
• Keeping costs low and preventing wastage
• Ensuring the kitchen has a high level of organisation and cleanliness, and adheres to health and safety regulations
• Develop new seasonal recipes and menus and keep up with the latest trends
Requirements
• Restaurant experience will be beneficial, although not critical
• Creativity to work with Chef to design seasonal specials or menu changes
• Leadership skills to manage the pastry section and staff in a kitchen, including hiring the right staff and motivating workers in a high-stress environment
• Time management skills to meet delivery schedule for shop opening hours and online orders
• Physical strength and stamina to spend long hours standing and performing repetitive motions
• Flexibility, since hours for this industry may vary and include weekends, and holidays
Benefits
• Salary $2,400 to $4000 depending on experience
• 5 day, 44 hour work week
