Job summary:
The Capital Markets Europe team provides institutional clients with specialist debt and capital markets administration services. As a Client Accountant you will support senior client accountants and management in delivering accurate accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and capital markets structures.
This role is ideal for an ambitious accountant with strong technical accounting skills (IFRS/local GAAP), attention to detail, and a desire to progress their career in a fast-growing, client-focused team based in London.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain and set up general ledgers for new and existing clients, applying appropriate accounting treatment for a variety of SPVs and capital markets structures.
- Post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure timely, up-to-date accounting records for an assigned SPV portfolio.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts and other routine client deliverables to agreed timelines.
- Draft annual statutory financial statements, including notes and disclosures under IFRS or local GAAP, ensuring compliance with company law.
- Liaise with external auditors to coordinate audits and produce audited financial statements that meet statutory deadlines.
- Prepare and submit regulatory and tax filings as required (e.g., VAT, Corporation Tax, iXBRL financials, and jurisdictional regulatory returns).
- Identify and resolve technical accounting issues by engaging with internal teams, clients, and advisors.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and efficiency gains across the accounting team.
- Build familiarity with a diverse range of capital markets products and transaction structures, supporting knowledge transfer within the team.
Required Qualifications:
- Qualified ACA or ACCA accountant.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting within a firm or financial services environment, with exposure to financial statement preparation.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS and/or local GAAP) and experience working with auditors.
- Excellent organisational skills and proven ability to meet tight deadlines in a busy environment.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical problem-solving skills, and a collaborative team mindset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with accounting systems; able to present information clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with SPVs, securitisations, or other capital markets transaction structures.
- Experience preparing regulatory returns (for example, Central Bank of Ireland filings) and corporate tax/VAT filings.
- Familiarity with accounting platforms used in capital markets administration and interest in process automation or improvement projects.
