Job Purpose

The Director, Truck Service Tire Programs & Vendor Strategy is accountable for defining and delivering the enterprise tire strategy, including vendor partnerships, pricing frameworks, and program design.

This role ensures the tire category is positioned to deliver margin optimization, supplier value, and operational consistency, while enabling field teams to implement effectively across all locations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Category Leadership

  • Define and deliver the enterprise tire category strategy, including product mix, service offerings, and vendor alignment
  • Establish pricing frameworks that balance cost, margin, and market competitiveness
  • Monitor market trends (tire manufacturers, supply, pricing dynamics) and translate into actionable strategies
  • Drive long-term category transformation and performance

Vendor Strategy & Supplier Management

  • Own strategic relationships with tire manufacturers, distributors, and service partners
  • Lead vendor selection, negotiations, and performance management to improve value (cost, rebates, service levels)
  • Partner with Procurement to structure enterprise agreements and pricing models
  • Drive innovation through partnerships (new tire programs, retread models, service solutions)

Program & Offering Development

  • Lead the design and evolution of tire programs, bundles, and service offerings
  • Ensure programs are standardized, scalable, and aligned with field execution capabilities
  • Partner with Operations to ensure service delivery consistency and program adoption
  • Find opportunities to enhance utilization, attachment rates, and category profitability

Cross-Functional Integration

  • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, and Procurement to align strategy, execution, and financial outcomes
  • Serve as the link between vendor capabilities and field needs, ensuring feasible and effective program deployment
  • Lead change management for new tire initiatives and programs

Transformation & Continuous Improvement

  • See opportunities to optimize cost structure, supply chain efficiency, and vendor performance
  • Drive continuous improvement in tire program performance and operational execution
  • Leverage data to inform pricing, vendor decisions, and strategy evolution

Leadership & Capability

  • Lead and develop a high-performing tire category/program team
  • Build capability in commercial acumen, vendor strategy, and category management
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Scope & Impact

  • Enterprise accountability for tire category performance and supplier strategy
  • Direct impact on margin, cost structure, and service consistency
  • Critical role in supplier relationships and external partnerships

What We’d Like to See

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Significant experience in truck service, fleet maintenance, automotive, or related industries, with progressive leadership responsibility
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise programs, category strategies, or multi-site operational initiatives
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience driving margin performance, cost optimization, and pricing strategy
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional collaborators and lead through complexity without direct authority
  • Experience managing supplier relationships, negotiations, and performance outcomes (particularly relevant for vendor-facing roles)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and experience employing business systems and data tools
  • Ability to travel as required to support business priorities

Typical Physical Demands

This role is primarily focused on leadership, strategy, and cross-functional engagement. It requires frequent communication, data analysis, and participation in operational reviews. Periodic field visits may include walking service locations, observing operations, and navigating shop environments. Occasional lifting or moving objects may be required. All responsibilities are performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment

This role operates in a dynamic environment that includes both office and field-based activities. Occasional travel to service locations may involve exposure to typical conditions within commercial vehicle maintenance facilities, including noise, mechanical equipment, and outdoor elements.

Appropriate safety protocols and protective equipment are required during site visits.
