Drill Bit Repair Technician

Job Summary:
The Bit repair technician will report to the Operations Manager/Supervisor and will be actioned with a variety of manual and machine grinding, blast cleaning and thermal related tasks such as brazing, welding and hardfacing that focus on the repair and assemble of drill bits & DLR to a high standard along with bit movements when required.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILTY & AUTHORITY:
- Adherence to contractual obligations, such as timekeeping.
- Assembling components to engineering drawings and set procedures.
- Good knowledge and practical skills in various torch brazing and hardfacing processes.
- A comprehensive understanding of the use oxy/acetylene & propane equipment and processes and necessary checks.
- Use handheld grinding tools.
- Experience of welding (TIG) and gas torches for hardfacing and brazing jobs.
- Inspect parts according to frequency specified and report any non-conformances and be knowledgeable in using standard measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
- Be fully aware of personal workload, prioritize and organize to ensure deadlines are achieved.
- Ensure a high standard of professionalism is maintained and that customer care is foremost.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area and department.
- Ensure personal compliance with all HSE legislation and HSE Company policy.
- Contribute to the development of systems and improvement in working practices and processes.
- Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are always in full compliance.
- Forklift loading and unloading as required.
- Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager.
BEHAVIORAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Technical diploma certificate in metal fabrication or welding processes is desirable.
- Previous welding experience TIG Welding competencies, application of thermal related processes such as oxy fuel hardfacing and brazing processes
- Ability to use an OD grinding machine.
- You should be able to demonstrate your ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and schematics as well as production shop practices and procedures.
- You should also be a good team player with the ability to work under your own initiative
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or GED; 3–6 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- TIG Welding competencies.
- Experience of Oxy fuel hardfacing and brazing processes. Working knowledge within an engineering environment. Working knowledge of mechanical assembly.
- Five to seven years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Technical diploma Certificate in metal fabrication or welding processes is desirable.
- Understanding of English Language desirable.
