Role Summary
Borr Drilling is actively seeking qualified Drillers to join our expanding offshore operations globally.To work under the direction of the Toolpusher to operate/monitor rig drilling equipment and support systems and provide direct supervision of the drilling crews while on duty. The Driller is responsible and accountable for ensuring that the drilling crew performs their job safely and efficiently with respect for the environment. The driller ensures the drilling program is carried out in accordance with Borr Drilling and Client policies and procedures and that all related documentation is maintained and recorded.
Responsible and accountable during shift to ensure safe and efficient well control activities for ongoing drilling operations, maintain safe operating conditions for the company assets and safety of rig-based personnel.
Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Toolpusher or other supervisor and provide support in the day-to-day management of drilling operations
Ensure all operations are carried out in a safe and conscientious manner and responsible for
correcting or notifying responsible persons of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which existThorough knowledge and utilization of Company’s Integrity Management System, responsible to ensure understanding and application of updates, changes and working instructions
Ensure all crew members are capable of performing their respective duties in a safe and efficient manner and within the parameters of Company Procedures
Ensure full awareness of drilling program and look ahead: ensure any anomalies are identified and rectified prior to start to minimize risk
Pre-plan equipment materials and look ahead in in accordance with future well operations and movement of personnel
Prior to shift, ensure all drilling related equipment is in good condition, safe to use and fit for purpose
Ensure all tools ran are correctly drifted, measured and ID/OD is correct
Control actual drilling operations, depending on formations encountered, drilling efficiency and problems encountered
Conducts a pre-tour meeting with all drill crew members to outline details of well program and prepare for the tasks ahead
Directs and corrects installation of all components associated with diverter and Blow Out Preventer (BOP) on the wellhead to execute Client’s program safely and effectively
Direct drill crew during jacking operations, preloading and skidding
Direct drill crew in repositioning the derrick, substructure and related drilling equipment over the well
Make up Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) and stand drill collars back in derrick
Runs hoisting equipment during surface casing operations, directs the nippling up of the annular, diverter, directs installation of bell nipple and flow line assembly and spuds the hole and drills out to next casing depth
Coordinates with wireline, cementing and other service companies with running tools and supervises the drill crew with this procedure
Monitor down-hole conditions and log all drilling parameters while executing the well program
Monitor and report to Toolpusher any variations or unusual occurrences encountered such as rate of penetration, mud weight, loss of circulation or other changes in hole condition
Reviews with Toolpusher and client, aspects of the well program and its requirements: provides recommendations with regard to drilling equipment, materials and personnel to ascertain the safest, most efficient and cost-effective method of drilling the well to the client’s well plan
Work with Toolpusher to seek out and standardize best practices within the unit for drilling operations
Responsible for daily checks of equipment prior to start of shift and any other maintenance issues that occur throughout shift
Ensure knowledge of safe working limitations of rig floor equipment and various tubular make up torques
Ensure compliance with local statutory and regulatory requirements with regard to drilling related equipment and operating parameters
Personally responsible for routine derrick, sub-structure and other drilling equipment related inspections and maintain records of the same
Must have a comprehensive understanding of well control procedures and be able to recognize and appropriately act on signs of well kick or blowout before it turns into an emergency situation
Act as first line of defense for well control problems and be responsible and accountable for monitoring all primary well control activities
Be prepared to lead an initial response to all emergencies that may arise on the drill floor
Responsible for conducting and recording regular well control drills with drilling crew to ensure team is trained to recognize signs of abnormal well conditions and practice operating well equipment to control abnormal well bore pressures
Direct drill crew in resolving abnormal well conditions as directed by the Toolpusher and in consultation with the Client
Supervise securing the drill floor in an abnormal well control situation to limit as much as possible danger to life. Report to Toolpusher as soon as safely possible after the event, detailing conditions and procedures taken to resolve well control event for future investigation and preventive action
Retrieve drill stem and BOP equipment to allow well to be plugged and abandoned or completed as required
Supervise maintenance, equipment preparation, materials and manpower for next phase of drilling program
Responsible for slipping and cutting drill line
String up and string down the block
Supervise the preventative maintenance program for drilling equipment and accessories on the rig floor including shale shakers, mud pumps, elevators, slips and other related equipment
Maintain all paperwork required by Company, Client and regulatory/statutory requirements
Maintain good housekeeping on the drill floor at all times ensuring equipment and tools are used, maintained and stored correctly and safely in compliance with Company policies and procedures
Ensure comprehensive handover by self and drill crew to on-coming driller and crew
Support, encourage and mentor crew members to ensure they have the skills and opportunity to build job specific competencies and complete training requirements
Responsible and accountable for ensuring the job specific training matrix requirements and competency training for all personnel on rig is completed within required timeframes
Personally achieve and maintain required standards for own training and competency requirements for job role
Any other tasks requested by Rig Management
Work with assigned assessor to complete Borr Competence Management System “BCAMS” and where necessary, identify any areas for development. Provide demonstratable evidence to complement to assessor outcomes
Assess personnel within their area of responsibility. Provide guidance on the Borr Competence Management System “BCAMS” and assist with the collation of appropriate evidence ensuring assessments conducted are legible, authentic, current, sufficient and reliable to meet the requirements of Internal Verification
Qualifications and Experience
BOSIET OPITO
Offshore Medical Certificate
IWCF Well Control Diller
IWCF Well Control Supervisor would be advantageous
Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats – Lifeboat Coxswain / Flag Endorsed (if applicable)
Confined Space Vessel Entry
Cyber Base Course, would be advantageous
Extensive experience of conducting and supervising offshore drilling operations
Previous experience working in the capacity as a Driller
Previous experience working on similar MODUs
Advanced safety knowledge and strong safety leadership abilities
Ability to anticipate potential hazards and problems and act before they occur to minimize risk
Effective communication skills: Fluency in written and spoken English required
