Field Service Technician – Mission Completion Products (MCP)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Service, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair customer-owned equipment, including but not limited to centrifugal pumps, frac hoses, and other products supported by the Mission Completion Products (MCP) group.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and service activities at NOV facilities and customer locations as required.
  • Execute all work in accordance with NOV Quality Assurance (QA) procedures, departmental work instructions, and safety standards.
  • Disassemble equipment to inspect components, identify failures, and determine required repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues related to PP&C equipment.
  • Assist with actuator calibration, functional testing, and verification of control system components.
  • Support system diagnostics to identify operational, performance, and reliability issues within PP&C equipment and associated systems.
  • Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Frac Protection Systems designed to protect personnel and equipment during high-pressure operations.
  • Inspect components for corrosion, defects, damage, excessive wear, and other conditions that may impact equipment performance.
  • Determine root causes of equipment malfunctions using schematics, assembly drawings, work instructions, procedures, and testing methods.
  • Request replacement parts as needed and install components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately, efficiently, and with a strong focus on quality and workmanship.
  • Prepare surfaces and components for assembly and testing to prevent damage and ensure proper equipment functionality.
  • Perform operational and performance testing of repaired equipment to verify compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
  • Serve as the primary PP&C field representative during new product trials and demonstrations at customer locations.
  • Troubleshoot issues with new equipment in the field and provide detailed performance feedback to engineering teams to support product improvements and design enhancements.
  • Identify barriers to adoption of new MCP technologies by gathering customer feedback and communicating field-user perspectives to internal stakeholders.
  • Travel on short notice to customer locations to support equipment troubleshooting, resolve operational issues, and act as the NOV point of contact during customer non-productive time (NPT) events.
  • Participate in training and development activities as identified by management.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Facility / Group-Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Mission Completion Products product lines and applications.
  • Become proficient in MCP service procedures, operational processes, and quality requirements.
  • Establish familiarity with MCP engineering teams, product line managers, and new product development personnel.
  • Become proficient in the use of applicable NOV software systems, ERP platforms, and service applications.

Education & Experience Qualifications

Required

  • Valid driver's license with the ability to pass a three-year driving history review.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; alternatively, five (5) or more years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience using hand tools, torque wrenches, power drills, and other standard mechanical service tools.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic systems, electrical components, and equipment diagnostics.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn ERP and service management software.

Preferred

  • Previous oilfield or energy industry experience.
  • Experience supporting actuator calibration, equipment testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Familiarity with Frac Protection Systems or other high-pressure safety systems.
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pressure-containing equipment, hydrostatic testing equipment, and pressure-testing procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to NOV facilities and customer locations in support of service operations.
  • Perform only those tasks for which proper training and authorization have been received.
  • Ensure all products and services meet NOV quality standards and comply with applicable QA procedures and work instructions.
  • Conduct all work safely to protect personnel, equipment, facilities, and customer assets.
  • Understand and comply with all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Become proficient in the operation of tools, equipment, and techniques used throughout the Mission service portfolio.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.

  • Support emergency field service activities and customer needs as business demands require.
