First-Year Experience Work Study

Work study assistants will provide support with a variety of daily office duties. These duties may include, but are not limited to: office reception, social media, publicizing opportunities and resources for students. As well as, planning and executing first-year experience events.

Location: Reamer Campus Center 403E

Student Supervisor: Aileen Schatz

Work Available: Weekday business hours

Rate of Pay: $9.70/hr

Number of positions available: 2

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Answer phones and greet students and families visiting the office.

  • Assist with the publicity and dissemination of information regarding opportunities to students and faculty on campus via email, flyers, social media, newsletters, etc.

  • Design and distribute flyers

  • Create and publish content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)

  • Help plan and execute first-year experience events

  • General office work including: data entry, filing, scanning, copying, running errands around campus and other clerical duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral) are required

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are required, with a strong emphasis on customer service

  • Experience with social media is required

  • Experience using Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, Publisher, Photoshop and/or other design software is desired

  • Genuine interest in social media marketing and publicity are a plus

  • Creativity and artistic abilities are a plus

  • Reliability, flexibility, ability to take initiative, adapt to changes in routine and work independently

  • Detail oriented, with a willingness to learn

  • Must have the ability to handle sensitive information with the appropriate discretion
