Hardware Validation Engineering Lead - Battery Systems
This is a dynamic “player-coach” role within our Battery Qualification team. You will be the primary technical owner of the regional battery lab, leading a team while collaborating closely with US-based Qualification Engineers.
Your short-to-mid-term focus will be highly technical and hands-on: designing Design of Experiments (DOEs), leading complex EE bench testing, and managing in-region BMU and pack vendors. Long-term, your mission is strategic: you will transition the workflow to oversee and audit vendor testing capabilities, driving continuous improvement in their quality and relying on them as mature testing partners. Travel to vendor sites in China (approx. 2-3 times per year, up to 2 weeks per trip) is required.
Minimum Qualifications
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related highly technical field.
8+ years of hands-on EE development, hardware design, or hardware validation experience (Experience with power electronics, schematics, PCB layout, and component-level debugging is mandatory).
2+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing engineering teams, contractors, or external hardware vendors.
Strong hands-on experience with EE bench test equipment (oscilloscopes, electronic loads, DAQ, power supplies, meters).
Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese (written and verbal) for global cross-functional communication.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience with Battery Management Units (BMU), battery pack testing, or power protection circuit design (Note: Strong EE fundamentals can substitute for direct battery experience).
Proven track record of managing contract manufacturers (CMs) or hardware vendors in the Greater China region.
Familiar with scripting languages (Python, C, C++) for test automation, data acquisition, and instrumentation control
Eagerness to transition from hands-on execution to strategic vendor quality oversight.
