HSQ Officer

Core Job Functions

· Ensures that the Management System is:

- Implemented and maintained ashore and onboard managed fleet

- Is always in accordance with:

§ Company’s standards

§ ISM code

§ Other applicable National and International Legislation

· Conducts web-based SMS Awareness induction to increase new employee awareness and comprehension regarding company’s expectations as defined in the MS

· Monitors the Annual Internal & External audit plan to ascertain that is followed closely and timely

· Ensures that all parties engaged in the audit planning & executions are aware of their role significance

· Conducts:

- Internal audits, ashore and onboard

- Pre-audit visits onboard, to prepare the crew for the forthcoming external audit

- Participates in the actual audit process, if necessary

· Reports to Safety and Security Managerthe effectiveness and implementation of as identified through:

- Internal audits

- Management & Master reviews

- MS Gap Analysis against industry & quality standards, like TMSA, ABS HSQE, DBMS etc.

· Assures compliance against set requirements of applicable standards and legislation

· Demonstrates continual improvement and evolution of Company’s MS

· Evaluates raised Audit CARs to:

- Ensure validity and quality of corrective & preventive actions

- Eliminate the cause of the actual or potential nonconformity

· Monitors the Audit CARs’ close out to ensure that:

- Is carried out only based on assessed close-out evidences provided by the vessel staff or office staff

- It satisfies the identified corrective and preventive actions

· Provides MS, processes and performance advice to the management team and all staff

· Promotes line responsibility for HSQ Management

· Maintains HSQ monitoring and data analysis tools

Core Competencies

· Either sea experience onboard similar type of fleet vessels for minimum 2 years, or higher shipping education and/or HSQE & BSc or MSc qualifications

· Good knowledge of the shipping business and relevant working experience, on similar type of our fleet vessels

· Excellent English language and communication skills, oral and written

· Excellent analytical skills

· ISM Internal Auditor Certification from a recognized certifying body

· Good understanding of:

- Audit and compliance

- HSQΕ requirements & functions

- Relevant IMO regulations

- Safety education

· Familiar with:

- Risk Assessment

- ALARP

- Incident Investigation

- KPIs

- Aspect/Impact Assessment

· Training courses on:

- Incident Investigation

- Root Cause Analysis

· Competent in math’s and statistics

· Proficient in a wide range of Microsoft Office products:

- Word

- Excel

- Power-point
