Lead Technician, Design Support

Main Activities and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

Lead and foster a good safety culture to ensure the safety and well-being of all staff within the team.
Foster an engaged and high performing workforce, with a focus on mentoring, training and development.
Work collaboratively with colleagues from all parts of the WSP business.
Ensure compliance with all corporate governance, business system, quality and risk management obligations.
Organisational Knowledge
Working knowledge of WSP's organisational capability Digital Engineering and how to access it.
Working knowledge of systems, procedures and practices.
Working knowledge of organisational approach to risk management, ethics and safety.
Regularly seeks business opportunities via effective Client-centric practices.
Functional:
Analyses client requirements for the design criteria to ensure that all appropriate specifications are included in the design requirements. Reviews the design requirements by considering the impact on the plan/design of all development and implementation factors, including constraints and risks.
Coaches colleagues to use appropriate design tools and techniques and the identified design standards. Creates designs for non-standard, complex projects. Leads the application of technical expertise in new situations or contexts.
Implements quality control process to ensure that the design meets the project requirements and that the documentation is kept up to date.
Seeks a range of information sources to develop and strengthen present design. Negotiates and implements recommendations for improving processes and/or technologies. Develops, implements and coaches colleagues in the new design practices. Keeps abreast of technical innovations in the industry.
Deliver projects under strict timescales with uncompromised quality
Deliver both 2d and 3d (BIM documentation) to meet WSP and Client requirements
Qualifications (Minimum and Desirable):
Typically, 8-11+ years’ experience.
Experienced in providing key technical expertise across a broad range of projects. Self-aware of limitations and when should ask for help, balanced with confidence to proceed.
High level drafting & detailing skills.
High level Revit operator
High level use and understanding of 2D and 3D CAD Software and how it applies
Experience, skills and organisational knowledge
Prepares engineering drawing deliverables from sketches, calculations and/or specifications.
Contributed to building the technical capability of others and transferring technical expertise within the organisation.
Diploma of Engineering or Advanced Diploma of Engineering
Periodic attendance at specific technical training courses, conferences, workshops.
Continual development of CAD skills.
Excellent knowledge of drafting software - 2D & 3D
