Manager, State Government Affairs

Design and implement public policy initiatives and engagement strategies with state and local lobbyists. Develop and nurture relationships with key partners, as well as with industry trade associations, legislative and executive organizations and related nonprofit groups. Effectively communicate policy priorities and provide feedback on policy initiatives. Draft policy and background materials for relevant meetings and engagement. Minimum Qualifications 10+ years experience in government, government relations, or other advocacy/engagement roles at the state or local level. Experience working in/with executive and legislative offices and with extensive knowledge of the legislative process. Experience leading a portfolio of policy issues and coordinating policy-focused events. Ability to travel extensively - both within your state territory and nationally across all 50 states. During session, expect an average of 2-5 trips per month. Preferred Qualifications Experience advocating before states on behalf of members, corporations, trade associations, or any other interest groups and leading engagement with key organizations and related nonprofits. Knowledge of the policy issues relevant to Apple. Understanding of complicated technology issues and the ability to simplify them for non-technical audiences. Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to concisely summarize sophisticated issues and policies to create advocacy points and strategy. Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced work environment. Creative problem-solving history, ability to work collaboratively and under short timelines. Excellent leadership skills and professional presence. Highly motivated, self-starter and able to manage competing priorities. Standout colleague and willingness to pitch in when needed.
