About the RoleThe Department of Critical Care Medicine at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Critical Care Physician to join our multidisciplinary team providing exceptional care to critically ill oncology patients in a high-acuity academic environment. This clinically focused role offers the opportunity to practice at the intersection of complex cancer care, advanced critical care medicine, and academic collaboration within an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care while collaborating closely with surgical, medical, and multidisciplinary oncology teams to optimize outcomes for critically ill patients. In addition to direct clinical care, this physician will contribute meaningfully to resident education, institutional collaboration, and the continued advancement of evidence-based critical care practices.
What You’ll Do
• Provide direct critical care services for patients requiring intensive and acute care management
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity oncology setting
• Evaluate and manage critically ill patients, including the diagnosis and treatment of significant postoperative complications
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across surgical, medical, and oncologic specialties
• Participate in approximately 174 clinical shifts annually, with typical shift durations of 12–14 hours
• Support continuity of care and clinical excellence through strong communication and collaboration with colleagues and partner institutions
• Contribute to resident and trainee education through lectures, bedside teaching, and mentorship
• Participate in academic and administrative initiatives supporting departmental and institutional goals
• Maintain current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and other required certifications
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, compassion, and operational excellence aligned with High Reliability Organization principles

The Critical Care Medicine team at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center provides advanced, specialized care for critically ill cancer patients requiring complex medical and postoperative management. Faculty work collaboratively across disciplines to support patients throughout every stage of their cancer journey, utilizing evidence-based critical care practices and innovative treatment approaches.

What You’ll Bring
• MD, DO, or equivalent degree with training and expertise in Critical Care Medicine
• A strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care in high-acuity clinical environments
• Experience managing critically ill and medically complex patients within multidisciplinary care settings
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and other required clinical certifications
• A collaborative and solutions-oriented approach to clinical care and interdisciplinary teamwork
• Interest in academic medicine, resident education, and mentorship
• Executive presence, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively under pressure
• A commitment to continuous improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based critical care practices
• The ability to build strong professional relationships across departments and partner institutions

Qualifications:
Required Education and ExperienceLicense and Certification Requirement
1. License or permit to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York.
2. Possession of or eligibility for a valid medical specialty certificate in General Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology or Surgery.
Education and Experience
Medical Doctor degree in the field of General Internal Medicine.
NOTE: Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
