This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Prescribes appropriate treatments, initiates appropriate work up to determine diagnoses, properly admits and/or discharges patients based on evaluation, orders appropriate consultations as needed for care. Evaluates the patient to assess changes in the physical and mental status and addresses changes in a timely manner. Assists patients in coordinating continued care after the ER visit by referrals to specialty care/primary care for follow up. Participates in interdisciplinary team activities to achieve optimum quality of patient care that is maintained or improved. Participates in the progressive improvement of the service delivery which may include programmatic participation in initiatives within the facility. Serves on service level and/or facility committees as needed and participating in the facility peer review program. Takes an active role in education and in the evaluation of the patient, deciding treatment/care options along with documenting in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) as well as the use of the Emergency Department Integration Software (EDIS). Although on-call hours are seldom, staff physician shall be available for emergency interventions. Staff within emergency medicine are appropriately credentialed and privileged. They participate in various hospital committees, departmental and hospital in-service programs, and education programs of the department and the hospital. They are also involved in continuous quality improvement through the peer review process, and perform Focused and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations F/OPPE) on peers. Actively participates in compliance readiness activities as requested by Quality Management, ER Director and the ACOS Specialty Care. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Negotiable but 80 hours total per 2 week pay period preferred, may be variable tour, rotating shifts may apply, subject to change depending on the needs of the service/medical center.
