Platform Engineer (Staff/Principal) - Distributed Systems / Decentralise Cloud

You will design and implement the technical architecture for a scalable platform and enable developers to deploy services seamlessly. You will set up, maintain, and optimize Kubernetes clusters and core services, build and operate CI/CD pipelines, manage large-scale storage and database systems, deploy new sites and regions from the ground up, and continuously maintain, upgrade, and secure infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, maintain, and optimize Kubernetes clusters to ensure availability, scalability, and reliability
  • Deploy and maintain Kubernetes core services including ingress, secrets management, and CNI/CSI
  • Design, implement, and maintain a robust Kubernetes network ensuring secure and efficient inter-service communication
  • Implement and enforce Kubernetes security best practices to protect infrastructure and applications
  • Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD infrastructure to streamline deployments
  • Deploy and maintain large-scale storage and database systems to support business-critical data services
  • Lead the deployment of new sites, regions, and environments from the ground up to ensure rapid and reliable availability
  • Maintain, upgrade, and enhance existing infrastructure through continuous development, monitoring, and iterative improvements

Requirements

  • Experience with distributed storage systems such as Ceph
  • Experience with modern distributed database solutions
  • Proven track record of deploying and maintaining Kubernetes clusters at scale
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and deployment tools like ArgoCD, Flux, and Terraform
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools such as GitOps and Infrastructure as Code
  • Proficiency in designing and maintaining service-defined networks and service meshes like Istio
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes security best practices including RBAC and network policies
  • Proficiency with AWS and GCP cloud platforms
  • Strong skills in Linux environments and shell scripting
  • Experience in Golang is a plus
