Portfolio Marketing Leader - Complementary Crops, Pioneer

We are currently seeking a Portfolio Marketing Lead for Complimentary Crops. The Complimentary Crops Marketing Lead will be responsible for the execution of marketing plans for complimentary crops which include winter canola, wheat, sorghum and sunflowers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Portfolio Strategy and Business Ownership (Multi-Year)

  • Own end-to-end portfolio responsibility for assigned crops, including winter canola, wheat, sorghum and sunflowers
  • Set multi-year (3–5 year) portfolio strategy, aligned to North America commercial priorities
  • Own portfolio performance across the planning horizon, including revenue, market share, profitability and long-term growth
  • Define portfolio direction, including segmentation, positioning, pipeline priorities and investment focus
  • Drive portfolio prioritization and resource allocation decisions in partnership with Product and R&D teams
  • Represent the portfolio and commercial perspectives in North America and Global planning and governance forums

2. Go-To-Market Strategy and Execution

  • Translate multi-year portfolio strategy into clear, actionable annual marketing plans and commercial priorities
  • Ensure alignment across positioning, pricing, demand planning and launch readiness
  • Partner with Sales and Key Accounts to drive disciplined and consistent market execution
  • Oversee portfolio performance in-market, adjusting strategy and tactics based on results and market dynamics

3. Portfolio Architecture and Innovation (The Future)

  • Lead identification of portfolio gaps, competitive threats and innovation opportunities across all assigned crops
  • Partner with R&D and Global teams to shape pipeline direction, breeding priorities and technology advancement
  • Ensure strong linkage between market insights and long-range product development decisions
  • Champion development of business cases for new products and technologies, aligned to multi-year growth strategy

4. Financial Performance and Planning Integration

  • Own multi-year business performance outlook and ensure alignment with annual financial plans
  • Lead integration of long-range strategy into annual operating plans, forecasts and planning processes
  • Ensure delivery of annual targets while maintaining focus on long-term portfolio health and competitiveness
  • Provide input into demand forecasting across short, mid and long-term horizons

5. Cross-Functional Leadership and Alignment

  • Serve as the central leader aligning Marketing, Sales, Agronomy, Product, R&D and Finance around portfolio priorities
  • Partner with Commercial leadership to ensure strong linkage between strategy and execution
  • Represent the portfolio in strategic external relationships and partnerships
  • Drive alignment across North America portfolio and marketing teams
  • Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring market insights are embedded in strategy and decision-making
  • Serve as member of NA Pioneer Marketing Leadership Team

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, agriculture or related field
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience required
  • Agriculture and retail seed industry background preferred.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills
  • Proven knowledge of seed business processes and key systems.
  • Strong business acumen with proven project management skills.
  • Very strong oral and written communication, planning and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated facilitation and coordination skills.
  • Must be able to work with people at all levels, including outside consultants and vendors, while influencing without formal authority.
  • Must be able to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Johnston, IA based role
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of time
  • Work from Johnston Global Business Center at least 3 days a week (Tuesday-Thursday) required
