Job Role and Responsibilities

Field activities

  • To work closely with Superintendent and Technicians, and ensure smooth and safe operation of Polystyrene process, utilities and including finished goods packaging.
  • Perform work in accordance to safe operations procedures, work instructions. In regards to safety, output and quality.
  • Assist in the shift in daily production scheduling, process trouble-shooting and product analysis.
  • Support production, quality control and maintenance operations in the shift to meet production schedule and product quality.
  • Perform in-process batch sample analysis of the product.
  • Ensure all process analysis, production and quality records are maintain and updated on timely basis.
  • Perform basic trouble shooting and simple maintenance job for the process and equipment.
  • Ensure proper handover of shift duties including housekeeping condition.
  • To undertake any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time by Engineers & deputies.

Operating the DCS board

  • Monitor and control overall safe operations of polymer plant through available tools, such as DCS consoles, CCTV, fire alarm panels, and communications with field team members.
  • To be Permit-To-Work reviewers and prepare safe process working conditions if required to ensure the safety of the field work.
  • Monitor DCS control consoles for process performance on a continuous basis.
  • Monitor and review laboratory sample results by referring the updates from NetSuite analysis result trending’s, and make necessary adjustment of the control parameters accordingly.
  • Control start-up, shutdown and emergency responses according to SOP and response plans.
  • Ensure process performance within the operational envelops and improves yield, energy consumptions, and product quality.
  • Manage and coordinate logistic and downstream production team for raw material handling, finish good management, and packaging.
  • Participate drills and emergency response trainings to ensure readiness in response to any emergency situations.
  • Conduct trainings for new operation staff to understand the safe operation of the plan.

Job Requirement

  • Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Chemical Process Technology with other equivalent technical certificates.
  • Working experience in petrochemical industry will be advantageous.
  • General knowledge of chemical process and production.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skill with computer literate.
  • Hands-on, highly driven, self-motivated, and demonstrates strong initiative with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Candidates who possess a valid forklift license will be advantageous.
  • Must be able to work on a rotating three-shift schedule (Morning, Afternoon, and Night shifts).
