Senior BIM Technician - Structures

WSP India is currently seeking a Senior BIM Technician to join our P&B team located at our Noida/ Bengaluru office. This role is to work as part of WSP GCC Denmark as part of BIM team and take a role in the production of detailed structural drawings in REVIT Structures – Concrete and with AutoCAD Knowledge.

• Lead the preparation of Engineering Drawings using WSP CAD/ BIM Standards and Templates.
• Agree priorities & deadlines with Denmark Team, organize work to ensure timely delivery.
• Align work with Quality requirements and maintain Document Control for all work.
• Proactively raising queries, identifying necessary inputs from others & following up.
• Develop templates and libraries for CAD / BIM work.
• Role will be working under the supervision of Principal Engineer or Principal BIM Modeler.

• Prepare structural detailed and concept design drawings for various structures/buildings and construction types to be built predominantly in Denmark.
• Creation and maintenance of the software template files to assure standards
• Automate routines to support standards and productivity
• Provide quality control for completeness and adherence to company standards of all drawings produced
• Assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow process standards
• Maximizing utilization on projects
• Agree priorities and deadlines for drawing production through liaison with the Project Engineer and Denmark team

Mandatory Skills:

• Knowledge of working in REVIT environment inclusive of Concrete/ Cast in situ working models. Structural steel experience is a plus but not required.
• Agreeing drawing strategy, type and size of drawings and drawing numbering with project engineer and suggesting methods of drawing production to ensure efficient methods of working.
• 8+ years of experience of working on projects of various sizes, independently and as part of a project team
• Experience of working on a number of projects across different sectors/ Countries.
• Knowledge of both Structural and Architecture disciplines.
• Develop and model building elements using Structural drawings/ PDF’s or hand drafts in REVIT software.
• Should have a good experience in 2D Reinforcement drafting and specifications/Bar bending schedules. 3D reinforcement modeling experience is a plus, but not necessary.
• Good working knowledge of REVIT Structures with latest versions, able to use all standard functions on the software without requiring support from seniors and coach junior staff in its use.
• Setting up BIM models to the project standards and liaising with Model Managers from client side.
• Work with a small team of resources to execute a project.
• Assisting CAD/BIM Manager in Estimation and Costing of CAD/BIM projects based on client's inputs.
• Swiftly able to switch on to working on various tools for Preparing detail/design drawings for structures depending on priority of works.
• Good knowledge of industry standards and international codes

Core Functions:

• Understand scope of work and delivery schedule from Senior Leads
• Input to the co-ordination of engineering services on projects.
• Develop drawings from inputs received from Denmark team. Make drawings and details into co-ordinated building details by set manuals.
• Prepare sketches / RFIs etc. as necessary for seeking clarification from engineers in Denmark.
• Prepare / amend models and / or drawings to specified WSP in Denmark REVIT standards.
• Suggest revisions to standards / templates / custom settings as appropriate.
• Use templates for REVIT work and use Standard library items to assist detailing/design work.
• Provide advice and coaching to technicians on intermediate REVIT functions when requested.
• Follow QA, document control, archiving guidelines on all work.
• Work with project team members on specified aspects of the project.
• Managing small and medium BIM Models for structures using REVIT Structures.

• Minimum Diploma in CAD with at least 8+ years of relevant experience.
• It is desirable that the candidate has obtained professional registration such as EngTech with ICE, UK or close to attaining the same.
