Senior Engineer - Utilities

The Development team helps our clients to promote, implement and manage sustainable development, from pre-feasibility through to planning consent; establish plans and provision for how an area, its accessibility and needs, will develop over time and guide sustainable future development; and develop multi-disciplinary design from concept through to detailed design and construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day project management in the delivery of concept studies, detailed design and construction drawings.
  • The position will involve liaison with UK offices, assisting in preparation of fee proposals and financial control of projects when acting as a package project manager.
  • Responsible for ensuring your projects are delivered to budget, program and technical standards and meet QA, CDM, Sustainability and HSE requirements.
  • Direct line management, including mentoring and managing early career professionals, ensuring technical excellence is in everything we deliver.
  • Maintain a positive working environment within the team.

Mandatory skills:

  • Significant experience in drainage design (foul and surface water) on infrastructure projects i.e., urban drainage, roads/highways, residential,
  • Knowledge of the relevant design codes such as Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, Local Authority Design Guidance, SuDS Manual and are well versed in the preparation of drawings for contract documentation and technical approvals.
  • The ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations and construction drawings.
  • The ability to use or direct and check the use of relevant software including Micro Drainage, Info Drainage, Civils 3D.
  • Significant experience in design of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS).
  • Strong communication skills and desire to be a part of a successful close-knit team.
  • Experience and interest in mentoring junior team members.
  • Proven experience taking responsibility for line management, supervision and/or mentoring junior team members.
  • Cultural awareness is essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team. You will be quick to pick up new ideas and skills and be able to think laterally to generate new solutions to problems.
