Senior Product Manager Cards Sales – Retail Payments

Lead commercial growth in card sales through customer-centric product management.

Cards are a critical part of everyday banking and a strategic growth driver within Retail Payments. At ING, we are continuously improving how customers discover, choose and activate our debit and credit card propositions. This requires product managers who combine a strong commercial mindset with customer focus, data-driven decision-making and the ability to deliver in a regulated environment.

As Senior Product Manager Cards Sales, you are responsible for strengthening the commercial performance of card propositions. You optimise the sales funnels, improve conversion and shape propositions that are relevant for customers and valuable for the bank. Your initial focus is the Netherlands, with clear potential to broaden your impact across markets and across the wider cards domain.

You translate customer needs, commercial opportunities, KPI insights and portfolio dynamics into clear product priorities and a strategic roadmap. You operate at the intersection of sales, proposition management, customer experience and delivery, ensuring that strategic goals are converted into changes that deliver measurable impact.

Your role

You own the sales-related card journeys, propositions and feature improvements end-to-end: from identifying opportunities and defining priorities to implementation and optimisation. You work closely with other product managers, data analysts, risk and senior stakeholders to realise solutions that balance customer value, commercial performance, operational feasibility and regulatory compliance.

What you will be doing

  • Own and optimise the end-to-end sales funnel for cards, with a strong focus on conversion, activation, retention and customer value.
  • Use customer insights, funnel performance, KPI trends and portfolio dynamics to define priorities and make well-founded product decisions.
  • Track commercial performance & translate insights into a strategic roadmap that balances short-term impact with long-term portfolio growth.
  • Shape features and improvements from early idea to launch, ensuring real customer value.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including card schemes and external partners, to accelerate commercial results.
  • Coach and educate peers, helping raise commercial awareness and product excellence across the team.

What success looks like?

You drive sustainable growth within the cards portfolio by attracting new customers, activating existing retail customers and continuously improving funnel performance. You understand KPI movements and portfolio dynamics and translate these into clear priorities and a strategic roadmap. Stakeholders trust your judgment, your structure and your ability to move things forward. You also strengthen the wider team by coaching peers and increasing commercial capability across disciplines.

About you

You are a product‑minded professional who enjoys responsibility and commercial impact. You:

  • have 8+ years experience in payments, cards, or an equivalent digital product development in a complex organisation.
  • Understand debit and/or credit card products and are curious about how the cards ecosystem works.
  • Combine a sharp customer focus with strong data skills, using KPI insights, portfolio dynamics and commercial metrics to drive product choices and strategic roadmap decisions.
  • Care deeply about customer experience and commercial value.
  • Are comfortable working in complex, regulated environments without losing customer focus.
  • Are a clear communicator who influences across disciplines, takes ownership, and enjoys coaching and educating peers on commercial skills.
  • Are curious, pragmatic, and entrepreneurial: you take it on and make it happen.
  • Are fluent in English (Dutch is a plus) and based in the Netherlands.

What you will get

  • Responsibility for card journeys and portfolio that create value at scale.
  • Work on products that matter together with highly skilled professionals in a collaborative, agile environment.
