Position Overview:
The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for the administration, optimization, and support of the organization's Microsoft infrastructure, with a primary focus on VMware, Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft 365. This individual will lead efforts related to server administration, identity and access management, endpoint management, virtualization, and cloud collaboration platforms while ensuring a secure, scalable, and reliable IT environment.
Responsibilities:
- Administer VMware vSphere environments including ESXi hosts, clusters, virtual machines, storage, and networking.
- Perform VMware upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot virtualization-related issues and optimize infrastructure performance.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives for virtualized environments.
Active Directory & Identity Management
- Design, administer, and maintain enterprise Active Directory environments.
- Manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs), organizational units, security groups, and user provisioning.
- Support Active Directory migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
- Administer identity and access management solutions including Azure AD (Entra ID), ADFS, and Single Sign-On integrations.
- Implement and maintain security best practices for authentication and access controls.
Microsoft Intune & Endpoint Management
- Administer Microsoft Intune for endpoint provisioning, configuration, compliance, and application deployment.
- Manage Windows device lifecycle through Autopilot and modern device management practices.
- Create and maintain device compliance policies, configuration profiles, and security baselines.
- Support endpoint security initiatives leveraging Microsoft Defender and Intune integration.
Microsoft 365 Administration
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including:
- Exchange Online
- Teams
- SharePoint Online
- OneDrive
- Microsoft Defender
- Manage licensing, tenant administration, security policies, and compliance configurations.
- Troubleshoot complex Microsoft 365 issues and support cloud adoption initiatives.
Systems Administration
- Administer Windows Server environments and associated infrastructure services.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity.
- Perform server patching, upgrades, backups, and recovery operations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and diagrams.
- Participate in infrastructure projects and technology modernization efforts.
- VMware Infrastructure
Qualifications:

- 8+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator, Senior Systems Administrator, or Infrastructure Administrator.
- Extensive hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, vCenter, clustering, and virtualization best practices.
- Expert-level experience with Microsoft Active Directory, including design, administration, Group Policy, and migrations.
- Strong experience administering Microsoft Intune in an enterprise environment.
- Strong experience supporting Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and Azure AD (Entra ID).
- Experience with Windows Server administration and enterprise infrastructure support.
- Experience implementing and supporting identity, security, and endpoint management solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Experience with Azure cloud services.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender and security/compliance solutions.
- PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
- Experience with Citrix environments.
- Experience with SAN/storage technologies.
- Experience supporting Cisco networking infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Linux server administration.
