Staff Accountant - Loan Accounting

You will record loan-related journal entries and reconcile loan accounts, ensuring data accuracy and resolving discrepancies. You will support month-end close by preparing journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations, assist in preparing financial statements, and validate data integrity. You will develop and update accounting policies, assist with external audit requests, collaborate with cross-functional partners to resolve issues, and design automation solutions to streamline financial processes. You will also contribute to ad hoc projects that support scaling and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Record journal entries related to loan activity
  • Perform account reconciliations for loan-related accounts
  • Support month-end close by preparing journal entries and accruals
  • Prepare and assist with financial statement preparation and data validation
  • Develop and update accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist with external audits and prepare required documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and control procedures
  • Design and drive process automation for financial data
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in loan accounting or similar industry accounting role
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Familiarity with Sage, NetSuite, Workday, and expense management solutions preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proactive approach to process improvement
