SUPERVISORY MEDICAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT
The Northern Arizona VA Health Care System is seeking a highly energetic candidate to fill the Supervisory Medical Support Assistant vacancy within the Community Care Service. The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (MSA) serves as the direct supervisor for Lead MSAs, Advanced MSAs, and MSAs. The Supervisory MSA is proficient in all appointment scheduling, consult functions, and provides support in connection with the care and treatment given to patients.

Independently carries out a wide variety of tasks involving atypical problems or complex situations. Advises Lead MSA of requirements for on the job training for new MSAs. Responsible for extracting and analyzing data to provide reports in support of performance measures to senior management. Coordinating schedules and assignments with RN Managers/Assistant RN Managers and adjusting as needed. Serves on Medical Center committees as needed, and prepare various reports in area of expertise. Assures that all supervised staff receives all required annual training. The incumbent is responsible for the competencies for all supervised staff. Plans and/or coordinates a formal orientation and training and assures training programs for new employees are completed as required to achieve efficiency of operations on a daily and long-term basis. Ensure adequate leave coordination to avoid inability to properly respond to the needs of the service. Incumbent(s) must be able to train staff on the requirements of VHA Scheduling Directives and complete accurate scheduling responsibilities. Incumbent must screen/receive phone calls in a courteous and timely manner, determine the nature of requests and provide the information desired using privacy rules and established clinic processes. All appointments will be made with the patient's input, either in person or by phone. Schedule appointments accurately and in a timely manner. Notifies his/her supervisor when clinic access is less than desirable or if an individual patient cannot be scheduled within mandated clinic time frames. Exercises supervisory authorities and responsibilities involving work assignment and review, as well as the administrative and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised in conjunction. Daily review of active/pending consults and Audio CARE communications for accuracy and disposition. Incumbent(s) will rotate this to assure all MSA staff is in attendance and understand the process. independently manage position responsibilities with little supervision as well as set priorities and deadlines adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet team and patient needs. Important interfaces and collaborations also occur with all clinical staff in Specialty & Diagnostics, as well as, with staff outside the service line. Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30 PM (Tour may be subject to change based on needs of the facility) Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
