As a member of Anchor’s web team, you’ll play a critical role in helping us define the future of audio. We firmly believe that there is endless innovation just waiting to happen in the audio space. You’ll get to work alongside a cross-functional team of engineering, product, content, and community team members. This is a unique opportunity to be one of the very first hires for a consumer-facing and product-driven company that’s backed by some of the best investors in Silicon Valley and NY. This is a full-time role based in New York City.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining fast and bug-free web components written with React
  • Writing front-end code that communicate seamlessly with back-end code
  • Implementing features based on both wireframes and completed designs
  • Being passionate about great, responsive web design and bringing your own ideas to the table about how to optimize for performance and improve UX
  • Reviewing code and discussing approaches to implementing front-end web features
  • Collaborating directly with other front and back-end developers
  • Helping the product team plan and design features by providing feedback on implementation and effort, in order to deliver the best end user experience
  • Seeing large, often complex projects through from conception to launch
  • Keeping code maintainable through extensive documentation, automated tests, and consistent communication

Requirements:

  • A sense of humor
  • 3+ years of experience building web apps with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • 1+ years experience with a modern JavaScript framework (ideally React with Redux)
  • Familiarity with tools to manage and deliver front-end code and assets
  • Familiarity with NodeJS, the express framework, and REST concepts
  • Knowledge of best practices and usability within the web platform (i.e. what different browsers can and can’t do, and how to design for that), and how to measure what users do
  • Excitement about challenging computer science problems, and a love for clean code
  • Strong foundation in object oriented programming, data structures, and design patterns
  • Familiarity with git
  • Ability to try things and iterate very quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Persistent/determined work ethic and a willingness to try anything and everything
  • Strong interest in podcasts, radio, or audio in general
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
