Appeals Officer

As an Appeals Officer (Knowledge Management),you will conduct quality assurance reviews of agency appellate decisions, develop, deliver, and evaluate trainings, and coordinate knowledge management of training materials.
Leads the development, implementation, and assessment of reviews to determine the accuracy, quality, and legal sufficiency of appellate adjudications.
Analyzes key issues in appellate caseloads to inform AAO leadership decisions for use in training, process, and procedural development.
Works with subject matter experts in the development and delivery of training materials for appellate program personnel.
Instructs, develops, and analyzes all levels of training evaluation from knowledge acquisition to organization effectiveness.
Ensures knowledge management of appellate training resources by compiling materials, eliminating redundancies, ensuring timely updates, and maintaining consistency and visibility of trainings, procedural, and policy guidance materials.

Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas. Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year.
