Associate Data Center Insurance
You will own and manage insurance for the data center portfolio, handling underwriting, renewals, claims, and ongoing policy maintenance. You will collaborate with construction, operations, finance, procurement, and legal to identify and close coverage gaps, draft and negotiate insurance provisions, and interpret coverage. You will liaise with brokers, underwriters, logistics providers, and vendors to implement policies, manage cargo and installation coverage across equipment lifecycles, and ensure vendor compliance through COI tracking and due diligence. You will drive cost optimization through negotiation, oversee claims submission, and maintain centralized records and dashboards to monitor coverage and vendor performance.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end management of all data center insurance policies including underwriting, renewal, claims, and maintenance
- Partner with construction, operations, finance, procurement, and legal to identify and address coverage gaps
- Draft, review, and negotiate insurance provisions in vendor, construction, and lease agreements
- Serve as the internal point of contact for data center insurance queries and coverage interpretation
- Liaise with brokers, underwriters, and external service providers to facilitate underwriting, onboarding, diligence, and policy implementation
- Manage insurance for equipment across procurement, transit, warehousing, and installation lifecycles and coordinate with logistics and warehousing partners
- Drive cost optimization and secure favorable terms through negotiation and strategic review
- Oversee claims submission and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve emerging risk and control matters
- Respond to due diligence requests including Certificates of Insurance and policy disclosures
- Maintain and monitor a centralized tracking system for vendor COIs and enforce contractual insurance requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, or a related field
- At least 5 years of hands-on insurance experience in the construction industry as a broker, underwriter, or risk professional
- Experience managing and negotiating commercial insurance products including Commercial Property & Casualty, Builder's Risk, Cargo, Inland Marine, Professional Liability, and Wrap Up programs
- Experience reviewing and drafting insurance provisions within commercial contracts
- Proven experience managing external insurance broker relationships and carrier engagement
- Familiarity with vendor due diligence, COI management, and compliance monitoring
- Strong communication skills and experience presenting to senior stakeholders
- Proven attention to detail and ability to manage complex workflows under tight deadlines
- Technical acumen with vendor governance tools, data analysis, and workflow automation
- Experience in construction environments; experience managing Builder's Risk or Wrap-Up programs on projects exceeding $1B preferred
- Familiarity with hyperscale data center operations, real estate, or multi-jurisdictional operations is an asset
