Commis 2 South Indian
We're looking for a detail-oriented and efficient Commis 2 South Indian to join our culinary team in Kochi, India. In this role, you will work under the guidance of senior chefs to prepare authentic South Indian dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and kitchen organization. You will be an integral part of our kitchen brigade, contributing to the seamless operation of our South Indian cuisine station.
- Prepare and cook South Indian dishes according to established recipes and culinary standards
- Maintain mise en place at your assigned station, ensuring all ingredients and equipment are organized and readily available
- Follow food safety and hygiene protocols consistently to maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment
- Assist senior chefs in food preparation, including cutting, grinding, and blending spices and ingredients
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including stoves, grinders, and traditional cooking vessels
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure dishes meet quality standards
- Collaborate with kitchen team members to support smooth service during peak hours
- Receive feedback and guidance from senior chefs and implement improvements in your cooking techniques
- Maintain inventory awareness and communicate any supply needs to the kitchen management
- Contribute to a positive and organized kitchen culture through teamwork and communication
- Proficiency in South Indian cooking techniques and traditional preparation methods
- Knowledge of authentic South Indian recipes and regional cuisine variations
- Understanding of South Indian spices, flavor profiles, and ingredient combinations
- Strong food safety and hygiene awareness with ability to follow kitchen protocols
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills
- Strong attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a kitchen brigade
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Preferred: Experience working in high-volume kitchen operations
- Preferred: Knowledge of regional South Indian cuisines (Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, or Malayalam)
- Preferred: Food safety certification or culinary training in South Indian cuisine
