Nurse (Clinical/Transplant Coordination)

About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed national Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD in the Department of Surgery, Organ Transplant. Typical hours are 0700-1530. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Coordinate care for kidney and liver transplant patients.

Assess patient candidacy for transplantation evaluation based on patient records.

Educate patients and their families to assure understanding of treatment options.

Evaluate and present donor organ information to the physician.

Collect laboratory and diagnostic specimen, manage wounds and postoperative sites, and provide drain and catheter care.

Assist in scheduling and interpreting consults, laboratory, and radiology results.
