Physical Therapy Assistant

About the Position: This position is located at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning, Georgia. Work is performed in an outpatient physical therapy setting. General work hours 0700-1530. A recruitment or relocation incentive MAY be authorized. Salary negotiation MAY be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment MAY be authorized. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Plan, coordinate, and administer diverse physical therapy programs for wounded, ill and injured patients under the general supervision of the Physical Therapist.

Utilize various modalities of physical therapy, as prescribed, such as diathermy, hydrotherapy, massage, electrotherapy, ultrasound and therapeutic exercise.

Implement progressive patient treatment plans designed to restore and maintain range of motion, strength, endurance, coordination, and relaxation.

Design treatment plans with consideration of patient’s medical history and which promote healing, pain relief and improvement of functional independence.

Educate patient and/or and family members about application of physical modalities for home environment to include precautions and contraindications.

Track treatment plan effectiveness and report problems to supervisor.
