Physician (Occupational Medicine)
About the Position: This is a Physician (Occupational Medicine) position with the Occupational Health Clinic, Fort Drum, New York. This is an open continuous announcement. We accept applications on an ongoing basis. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.
Perform occupational physical examinations of various types including pre-placement, medical surveillance, medical qualification, disability retirement, fitness for duty, and any other special employee examinations that may be required.
Coordinates with facility and community resources to provide comprehensive work-related care to employees.
Notify management of exam results and recommend appropriate work restrictions/accommodations.
Interpret ancillary test results for evidence of possible occupational disease or confounding personal health conditions.
Diagnoses and appropriately consults for follow-up evaluations for conditions discovered during the occupational medical examinations.
Evaluates and treats on-the-job illnesses and injuries and stabilizes and transfers those suffering from urgent or potentially life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Assists in self-care transfer activities.
Conducts periodic worksite visits.
Develops and oversees medical surveillance and medical qualification programs.
Serves as member of the professional medical staff and provides advisory and consultative services on various meetings, committees, conferences, and boards.
