Summary: The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as Chief, Public Affairs, a first level supervisor providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Public Affairs office. Position serves as the principal adviser to the Commander/Director, senior staff, and external leaders on all matters relating to internal and external communication, including policy formulation and the potential public reaction to proposed policy, activities, and operations. Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the execution of a comprehensive Public Affairs program integrating media relations, social media, community relations, internal information, visual information, communication planning, contingency/crisis response, special event planning, security and policy review, and Public Affairs resource management elements. Duties: As Chief of Public Affairs, plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the organization's Public Affairs program. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs the execution of a comprehensive Public Affairs program integrating media relations, social media, community/Congressional relations, internal information, visual information, communication planning, contingency/crisis response, special event planning, security and policy review, and Public Affairs resource management elements. Represents the office with a variety of installation and local governmental, public, civic, service, industry, educational, and media organizations.
