Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day commercial and post-fixture operations of chartered dry bulk vessels.
  • Coordinate closely with charterers, shipowners, brokers, agents, terminals, Masters, and internal commercial teams to ensure efficient voyage execution.
  • Monitor vessel schedules, loading and discharge operations, port rotations, and voyage performance.
  • Ensure compliance with charter party terms, voyage instructions, and operational requirements throughout the voyage lifecycle.
  • Prepare and review voyage documentation, Statements of Facts, laytime calculations, demurrage, and detention claims.
  • Monitor voyage profitability and identify opportunities for operational and commercial optimization.
  • Track vessel performance, including fuel consumption, speed, port productivity, and turnaround efficiency.
  • Liaise with weather routing providers, port agents, and operational stakeholders to mitigate voyage risks and delays.
  • Maintain accurate records within IMOS and other operational systems.
  • Monitor freight market developments, port conditions, and industry trends to support commercial decision-making.
  • Support claims handling, dispute resolution, and post-voyage analysis where required
  • Collaborate closely with chartering and commercial teams to maximize operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–4 years of experience in vessel operations within the dry bulk shipping sector.
  • Strong understanding of dry bulk post-fixture operations, voyage management, and charter party execution.
  • Experience handling laytime calculations, demurrage claims, and voyage documentation.
  • Good knowledge of charter party terms, freight operations, and dry bulk trade flows.
  • Ability to manage multiple vessels and voyages simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with IMOS or similar vessel operations software is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.

  • Sailing experience as Deck Officer on dry bulk vessels.
  • Exposure to both owned and chartered fleets.
  • Experience working with commodity traders, shipowners, or international operators.
